This explains why we should tip but not why we do.A regular customer at a restaurant may regard the benefit as a private good, an incentive not to provide good service but to provide good service to him. But that does not apply to the passenger in a taxi, who is unlikely to ever see the driver again, or to the traveler who eats at a different restaurant every night. Yet they too tip. Looking at the practice from the perspective of tipper rather than tippee suggests a different sort of explanation. By tipping we demonstrate, to ourselves and others, our willingness to adhere to social norms, even at some cost. And at the same time we get the pleasure of generosity. Not only do we get to be generous, we get, in an odd sense, to be generous for free. If tipping were not customary restaurants would have to pay their waiters more. Actually it sounds pretty easy when it is summed up in one long run-on sentence! Honestly though, it was a big week on the farm to get everything ready for concrete and then eventually for the pour. And while there is still plenty of work to do in order to get everything finalized I thought it would would be fun to share the story of the big cement project.

To start, I want to be the first to admit that I am far from perfect and any 'super mom' parallels that one might draw are greatly exaggerated.Getting too legalistic about it can be equally as bad. I just discovered a great resource for inspiration, reminders, and tips for writing. I’ve been in a bit of a plotting rut and so I do what I usually do, which is watch TV shows and movies. It’s a shame that I’m only realizing this now, because it’s a resource I’ve always had, in the movies I’ve bought on iTunes, but never utilized. I’ll definitely be using this more in future. At a recent Stampin' Up! gathering we were asked to name our favorite SU! color. The moaning and groaning that followed was incredible but our leaders - Brian and Pam - held firm. We had to name one color and boy was that hard to do! Strong colors like Real Red, Blackberry Bliss and Cherry Cobbler were very popular - and those colors crossed my mind for sure - but when it was my turn the words Soft Sky just popped out. I have used it here in my Christmas card - softened even more with a piece of vellum layered over it. It is one of those colors that always seems to add a sweet fresh look to a design. .
